Job Description

Adams & Martin Group has partnered with a growing law firm in Costa Mesa seeking an experienced E-Discovery Paralgeal. The E-Discovery Paralegal will be responsible for overseeing and managing all phases of the firm's e-discovery process, from data collection and preservation through document review, production, and trial preparation. This individual will act as the firm's internal expert on e-discovery strategy, workflows, best practices, and technology, with a primary focus on the DISCO e-discovery platform.

The ideal candidate possesses strong litigation support experience, a deep understanding of the Electronic Discovery Reference Model (EDRM), excellent project management skills, and the ability to effectively communicate with attorneys, clients, vendors, and IT professionals.

Essential Responsibilities

E-Discovery Management

  • Manage all aspects of the electronic discovery lifecycle, including data preservation, collection, processing, review, production, and post-production management.
  • Serve as the firm's lead administrator and expert user of the DISCO platform.
  • Create and manage case databases, user permissions, workflows, searches, tags, review queues, productions, and analytics.
  • Develop, implement, and maintain firm-wide e-discovery protocols and best practices.
  • Coordinate with attorneys to establish discovery strategies and review workflows based on case needs and deadlines.
  • Ensure compliance with applicable court rules, discovery obligations, confidentiality requirements, and litigation hold procedures.

Litigation Support

  • Provide litigation support throughout all phases of litigation, arbitration, and investigations.
  • Assist attorneys in developing document review strategies and defensible e-discovery processes.
  • Conduct advanced searches, filtering, analytics, technology-assisted review (TAR), and quality control procedures.
  • Prepare privilege logs, redactions, document productions, and production specifications.
  • Track discovery deadlines and ensure timely completion of all e-discovery-related deliverables.
  • Support deposition preparation, hearing preparation, and trial preparation involving electronically stored information (ESI).

Attorney and Client Partnership

  • Act as a trusted advisor and subject matter expert to attorneys across the firm.
  • Consult with case teams regarding e-discovery strategy, review efficiency, and cost management.
  • Train attorneys and legal staff on DISCO functionality, workflows, and best practices.
  • Assist attorneys with discovery conferences, ESI protocols, and production negotiations.
  • Communicate effectively with clients regarding data collection, preservation, and discovery requirements.

Vendor and Data Management

  • Coordinate with external vendors and forensic consultants on data collections and specialized discovery projects.
  • Manage incoming and outgoing productions and ensure adherence to agreed-upon specifications.
  • Oversee chain-of-custody documentation and data integrity procedures.
  • Maintain organized case records, production logs, and discovery documentation.

Process Improvement

  • Identify opportunities to enhance litigation support operations and improve efficiency through technology and workflow optimization.
  • Stay current on evolving e-discovery technologies, legal developments, and industry best practices.
  • Recommend and implement new processes, tools, and training initiatives to support the firm's litigation practice.

Qualifications

Required

  • 5+ years of litigation paralegal and/or e-discovery experience.
  • Demonstrated experience managing the full e-discovery lifecycle.
  • Significant hands-on experience with DISCO.
  • Strong understanding of the EDRM framework and e-discovery best practices.
  • Experience handling large-volume document reviews and productions.
  • Knowledge of federal and state rules governing electronic discovery.
  • Exceptional organizational, project management, and problem-solving skills.
  • Strong communication skills with the ability to work effectively with attorneys, clients, vendors, and administrative staff.
  • Ability to manage multiple matters simultaneously in a fast-paced environment.
  • Availability to work onsite and travel between firm offices as business needs require.

Preferred

  • Bachelor's degree and/or Paralegal Certificate from an ABA-approved program.
  • Experience supporting complex commercial litigation matters.
  • Knowledge of technology-assisted review (TAR), analytics, and advanced review workflows.
  • Experience with forensic collections, data preservation, and litigation hold procedures.
  • Relativity or other e-discovery platform experience in addition to DISCO.
